Outrage as 140 police sent to Broome to crush community - May 10, 2012
More than 100 police are being sent to Broome, the ABC reports, in a desperate attempt to crush local community opposition to the proposed James Price Point gas industrial complex. The majority of Woodside’s Browse joint-venture partners are believed to oppose Western Australia Premier Colin Barnett’s authoritarian stance, and they now must speak out publicly.

The WA Environmental Protection Authority today announced a further delay to the release of their report on the Browse gas strategic assessment. The announcement cited new information from the proponent about a massive increase in dredge spoil from 21 million tonnes to 34 million tonnes, a 60% increase.
