Announcing appointment of TWS Inc Treasurer

The Wilderness Society Inc Committee of Management is very pleased to announce that, following an extensive search, the Committee appointed Donald Hellyer as Treasurer at its meeting on Wednesday, 28 March.  Donald brings exceptionally high levels of organisational leadership and financial expertise to the TWS Inc Committee of Management.

Donald was attracted to The Wilderness Society’s commitment to making a difference in protecting and preserving Australia’s precious natural environment.   As a new Australian and having lived a large part of his life in large cities in foreign lands, Donald fully appreciates the positive outcomes a few can make in protecting our heritage for future generations.

Donald has spent most of his career in finance having previously been Global Head of Financial Institutions, Funds and Insurance at the National Australia Bank. Donald holds the delegation of Chartered Financial Analyst and has a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University (New Zealand).  Donald now runs his own advisor business and is a board member for CFA Society of Sydney.

Donald states that his aim is to “...enable members to fully engage in achieving The Wilderness Society’s objectives, confident that we are well governed and financed.  I will be an active member contributing where I can to local and national groups.”

Welcome Donald and thanks for taking on the challenge at a very exciting time for TWS.
