Bronwyn Hannah – Queensland Wilderness Defender State Manager

- Bronwyn Hannah – Queensland Wilderness Defender State Manager
What motivated you to originally apply for the job?
“I have always wanted my work to contribute to environmental conservation as this is something I have always been really passionate about. I was already a member of TWS and loved their work when I saw the ad for face to face fundraising, so it just seemed like a great idea to apply. I love working for an organisation that I am passionate about and since starting up I have taken every opportunity I’ve been given to work my way up into the position I now hold.” - Bronwyn
What do you most enjoy about the job?
“The fact that I can wake up every day and head to work with a smile on my face knowing I am contributing to something important. This job has never been tiresome or a burden. Every day I work with amazing, passionate and inspiring people and we have fun and save the planet at the same time!” - Bronwyn
What have been your major achievements?
“I started working with TWS as a face to face fundraiser almost 4 years ago now. In that time I have coordinated and led successful fundraising teams and now fill the role of QLD State manager. My other main achievements have been helping to set up fundraising teams in Tasmania, developing and training others to be successful in the role, my own growth and personal development and the role I play every day in helping to protect our beautiful wilderness areas.” - Bronwyn
What skills have you obtained?
“This position has given me so much in terms of the skills I have obtained; everything from administration skills, training, planning and facilitating meetings, coaching and developing staff members, communication skills, computer skills, my own self confidence, time and stress management and leadership skills. As well as that this role has taught me so much about our environment and the world we live in.” - Bronwyn
What challenges have you faced & how have you overcome them?
“The biggest challenge I think I have overcome during my time with TWS would be learning how to be a successful fundraiser. It takes a lot of confidence and self belief to walk up to a perfect stranger and start talking to them about issues which are so close to your heart. Fundraising can be pretty tough at times when you put yourself on the front line and come across a lot of apathy and negativity. On the other side of that though, is the most fulfilling job I have ever known. When you are a successful fundraiser you know that the work you do directly contributes to environmental protection and every conversation you have out on the streets is changing the world for the better.” - Bronwyn
What motivates you within this position?
“I feel so lucky to have found myself in this position with TWS and think it would be hard to find a job that I find more satisfying and fulfilling. What motivates me today is exactly the same as what motivated me to apply for the position in the first place. By filling this role I am helping to contribute to environmental protection. As well as that I run a successful team and work with such inspiring and passionate people every day; it’s hard not to be motivated to stay on board!”- Bronwyn
