Tail-slapping, wake-riding and catching waves are all familiar antics of Australia's playful, much-loved dolphins. But did you now that they're pretty playful in the sack, too?
Touch is a major component of a dolphin's day, as much as foraging for fish is. They stroke or pat one another as a sign of affection. And it's not all about procreation - dolphins often bat for both teams!
And with their 10 to 14 inch equipment and vibrating sonar whistles their playful antics leave a lot to our wild imaginations.
As sea temperatures rise and the ocean's acidity increases with climate change, dolphins and their playful ways are coming under threat.
Despite popular belief, very little of our country's coastline is protected. By helping to secure more marine parks and protected areas off Australia's coast we can give our marine environments and creatures - including whales, turtles, dolphins and dugongs - the best chance of adapting to climate change.
