Inpex owes WA apology
The Wilderness Society WA Inc
Media Release
26 September 2008
The Wilderness Society WA has said that Inpex owes WA an apology for its arrogant behaviour over the past couple of years in WA.
It is expected that Inpex will be announcing its move to Darwin today.
The Wilderness Society WA State Coordinator Peter Robertson said that the company had managed to put offside just about everyone it dealt with in WA.
“Just because a corporation sticks a pin in the map of the Kimberley and says it wants to build a massive industrial facility there, it does not mean that it should get automatic, or indeed any, approval.
“Government, local communities, scientists and environment groups rightly insisted that any industrial development in such a sensitive location should be subject to rigorous assessment.
“If Inpex’s proposal could not withstand such scrutiny then it is a good thing it has left the Kimberley.”
