Your gift of $50 or more will help protect some of Australia's most precious wild places for nature, and for future generations.

The Kimberley

Protect the Kimberley

From its pristine waters to its vast savannah woodlands, living rivers, and extensive wetlands, the Kimberley is spectacular. It's also one of Australia's biodiversity hotspots, and is home to rare and endangered species such as the Snubfin dolphin (found only in Northern Australia) and the Northern Quoll.

But time could be running out for the Kimberley. Proposals from gas, mining, and agricultural giants threaten to fragment and degrade pure waters and landscapes which are a vital refuge for birds, wildlife and marine life.

Your gift will help protect the breathtaking Kimberley - one of the world's most intact and least understood habitats – from mass industrialisation along with our additional campaigns to protect Australia's wild places.

The Wilderness Society is keen to develop an alternative vision for the Kimberley – one that protects the area's natural values and provides a strong economic future for Indigenous people and local communities.

Forests

Protect a forest

Australia's forests are magnificent ecosystems, and vital habitat for many of Australia's unique creatures. And our forests also act as rain-makers – intact forests in water catchment areas improve the quantity and quality of water that reaches our dams.

Yet many of our majestic forests, particularly in Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales, are clear-felled, burnt, and turned into millions of tonnes of woodchips and exported for paper and cardboard every year.

Your gift will help protect Australia's forests, reduce the threats from logging and deforestation, and support The Wilderness Society's campaigns.

By working together to protect Australia's amazing forests with this gift, you will help to keep them in the ground. By working together, we can reduce threats such as logging and deforestation so our forests can be enjoyed and help to maintain our fresh water resources for generations to come.

Where the money goes from Wilderness GiftsYour 'Gift to the Wilderness' will go directly towards The Wilderness Society's work to protect our environment including the campaign your gift represents.

For example, through your 'Protecting a Forest' gift you will be supporting our nationwide campaigns to protect and restore Australia's wilderness, including our magnificent and carbon storing forests. With your help, The Wilderness Society works to protect areas that are significant to nature and to our climate – some of which are under serious threat.

Through your 'Protect a Whale' gift, you will be supporting our campaigns, including our Marine campaigns that aim to protect the Humpback Whale calving grounds off the Kimberley coast in Western Australia, and to have more marine protected areas created in South Australia and New South Wales. With your purchase, you can help create marine parks around Australia's coast and protect Australia's amazing marine life from the threat of over-fishing, mining and industrial development.

In addition, your gift will help tackle climate change, and protect our natural environment and the creatures with whom we share it.
