WildEndurance, 2/3 May 2009
The Wilderness Society will be hosting a second WildEndurance event over the weekend of 2/3 May 2009. WildEndurance is a 100km team trekking challenge that offers teams of 4-6 people the opportunity to test their stamina and fitness in the stunning Blue Mountains World Heritage area while raising funds to protect our climate, water supplies and wonderful wild places.
WildEndurance 2009 will build on the success of the inaugural 2008 event by including a new, improved course; better website functionality; and more streamlined fundraising while still retaining its friendly, personal appeal.
The redesigned course will mean the teams enjoy iconic views of the Three Sisters, Mount Solitary and the Jamison Valley during daylight hours – whether they are completing the whole 100km together or dividing into two relay groups each travelling 50km. Teams will also travel through Echo Point and there will be less road sections and a much easier route into the finish line.
The event will again have a strict 48 hour time limit but the regular checkpoints where teams can meet with their support crews for rest and refreshment will ensure no one gets left behind.
WildEndurance offers the opportunity to work as a team with friends, colleagues or family to challenge your personal limits while raising funds for The Wilderness Society’s vital environmental campaigns.
WildEndurance is tough but with training any reasonable healthy person can meet the challenge.
Event Registration opens in October but individuals and teams can pre-register now at www.wildendurance.org to make sure they do not miss out on a place.
