Walk Against Warming in Brisbane

Start: Nov 14, 2008 08:30 PM

End: Nov 15, 2008 12:00 AM

There’s now overwhelming evidence that climate change will have serious economic, social and environmental impacts and threatens our quality of life. Climate change is the most challenging issue of our time.

Even though ordinary Aussies across the country are pitching in to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions, this simply isn’t enough to stop climate change globally. We need governments, industries and the community to work together so we can see real reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

So, to show our political leaders that Australians are deeply concerned about global warming, we can Walk Against Warming.

Join thousands of families, workplaces and communities in a walk for renewable energy and a safe climate future for our children. With vital decisions being made this year, we will Walk Against Warming to ensure the Australian Government supports strong, urgent action and justice for developing nations affected by global warming.

When: Sat 15 November, 12:30pm
Where: Starts at Queens Park (behind the Casino) and ends at Roma Street Parklands Ampitheatre
Bring: A colourful umbrella

This year will be a celebration that we are finally under the Kyoto umbrella - the first step towards sheltering us from dangerous Climate Change.

Brisbane Walkers will be highlighting what we need to do to save the Great Barrier Reef from the ravages of dangerous climate change. We will also emphasise what's needed to save the region by helping to shelter our neighbours in the Torres Strait and the Asia Pacific from the sea level rise and wild weather that's already locked in to the warming climate system for the next few decades.

Together we can tackle climate change, for the future of our planet, our children and our grandchildren.
