The Wilderness Society today held a colourful party outside the campaign office of Liberal candidate for Brisbane, Teresa Gambaro, urging the Liberals to “come to the party” on environment policies this election.

The Wilderness Society asks the liberals to come to the party this election, August 2010.

The Wilderness Society said that the Liberal Party had shown very little regard for protecting our precious environment this election.

“The Liberal Party just keeps dancing around the issue. They have been extremely disappointing this election on environment issues. The people of the electorate of Brisbane deserve real leadership on the environment. It’s time Teresa Gambaro and the Liberals came to the party on the environment!”

The Wilderness Society has called on all political parties to provide positive policies to protect our native forests, our unique natural ecosystems and marine environments, and iconic places like the Kimberley and Cape York.

Labor and the Liberals (Coalition) have both scored low points for failing to show leadership on key issues, with Labor marginally ahead on commitments. The Greens have scored much higher with generally strong showing on environmental policies.
