When: Monday 13th February, meet in Fitzroy 5:30 pm sharp - 9pm.

Summer stag watching is back! Please join us this February for a group excursion as we assist the Australian National University in conducting surveys throughout the Central Highlands to identify important Leadbeater’s Possum habitat.

The Leadbeater’s Possum, the faunal emblem of Victoria, is the only mammal species endemic to Victoria and is currently facing extinction with an estimated adult population of less than 1000. Leadbeater’s Possums occupy the Central Highlands of Victoria and inhabit old growth Mountain Ash and Alpine Ash, a habitat which is currently under threat from logging.

Help protect our valuable natural areas by joining the Wilderness Society staff and other volunteers on dusk field trip to watch for the Leadbeater’s Possum as they return home.

RSVP is essential. Please contact Victorian Community Campaigner Trier Murphy on 9038 0851 or by email, trier.murphy@wilderness.org.au
