Take action this election

The Wilderness Society Archive - This page is over one year old. Links and content may no longer be accurate.

This election is a huge opportunity for us to work together to secure new and exciting commitments from the political parties. We need to ensure the next State Government takes strong action on climate change and protects our forests and wildlife.

There are four key ways you can help our campaign:

1. Contact the leaders of the parties

A simple email to the political leaders in this crucial time can make a big difference in promoting our campaign. Telling them why protecting the environment is important and asking them what their party will do if elected is a simple and effective action.

David Bartlett - Labor Party: email david.bartlett@parliament.tas.gov.au
Will Hodgman - Liberal Party: email will.hodgman@parliament.tas.gov.au
Nick McKim - Greens: email nick.mckim@parliament.tas.gov.au

2. Contact your local candidate

It is important that your the candidates in your local electorate hear from you that the environment is crucial this election. Give them a call, send them an email, or better yet, keep an eye out for them at street stalls, as this is a great opportunity for you to approach them and ensure your voice is heard. If enough people make this important and easy contact, the word will quickly get back to the party headquarters that environmental issues are a top priority this election.

For contact details of candidates in your electorate, contact the major political parties.

3. Join one of our energetic volunteer teams

The success of our campaigns depend on people power and the generous help of hundreds of volunteers. We have campaign centres in Hobart and Launceston, so wherever you live in Tasmania you can make a huge difference by joining one of our energetic volunteer teams. We need people to help run stalls, distribute flyers and posters, organise colourful events, and any other creative means of getting our message across!
