The Wilderness Collective is a group of volunteers who meet each week to organise events and actions, learn through workshops, keep up to date with campaigns, and make banners and props.

As a reward for all of our hard work, we take a trip every few months, to experience the amazing wilderness areas in our State.

On a sunny afternoon in March, our happy group of campers met at the Great Western Woodlands office to pack up the cars, ready for our trip south to the beautiful Karri forests near Pemberton, WA.

We woke in the morning to tall river red gums, the beautiful Warren River, kookaburra's, and fresh air! Following a yummy camp breakfast, we took a drive through the forest to the Southern Forests Sculpture Walk in Northcliffe. Following an end to old growth logging, the town has found a future in tourism through promoting the natural environment.

The afternoon was spent swimming in deep pools in the river, relaxing under the red gums, and drinking red wine.

The following day, we went four wheel driving over the area's sand dune system (sticking to designated track - of course) down to the beach, where we hung out, had a cooked breakfast, and caught some herring for dinner.

In the evening we watched an amazing sunset on the dunes, fire-twirled, and star-gazed. What a way to end the day!

Thank you all our amazing volunteers, who help to protect our State's beautiful places, and who make The Wilderness Society a community that we want to be a part of.
