Gunns Board reform: major breakthrough

The Wilderness Society has been working cooperatively with shareholders, investors and other stakeholders to end the conflict over forestry and achieve a win-win outcome for jobs and the environment.

At times this has seemed unachievable but there has now been a major breakthrough.

John Gay and Robin Gray have been forced to step down from the Board of Gunns and any further involvement with the company or its subsidiaries.

This is the biggest breakthrough in 20 years which creates the circumstances to achieve permanent and lasting resolution to the conflict over forestry in Tasmania.

The Wilderness Society congratulates Gunns' major shareholders on this initiative to set a new direction and as a first step to creating a sustainable industry.
