How to send a letter to Woodside and the joint venture partners

The Wilderness Society Archive - This page is over one year old. Links and content may no longer be accurate.

The Woodside joint venture partners are:

Woodside 50% Chevron Corp 16.7% British Petroleum (BP) 16.7% Royal Dutch Shell 8.3% BHP Billiton 8.3%

The Kimberley coast is a special place home to the world largest population of Humpback whales and vast areas of highly diverse corals and other special species such as the Australian snubfin dolphin, dugong, five species of marine turtle and numerous fish species. The multinational fossil fuel companies are eyeing off the Kimberley coast for a massive LNG processing facility and right now is the time to let them know that the Kimberley is the wrong place for this development. There are other, better, options.

1. Sign up to our Hands Up for the Kimberley supporter list and map

2. Send your own letter to the joint venture partners

What will I write?

Let the companies know that you do not support gas processing on the Kimberley coast. For ideas read our 10 reasons why the LNG development should not go on the Kimberley coast or download a sample letter written by a local Broome activist.

Who do I write to?

{Don't feel that you have to write to everyone, do what you can, every letter helps}

Also, you may like to also write a quick letter to Inpex a company that has already decided that the Kimberley is in the environmental approvals 'too hard basket', in part thanks to the Wilderness Societie's campaigning. According to WA premier Colin Barnett it has an "open invitation" to return to the Kimberley to build its plant at the proposed Kimberley gas hub site  see (http://www.lngpedia.com/woodside-picks-kimberley-for-browse-lng-site-australia/) - note that the dodgey map on this site flags multiple LNG processing plants on the Kimberley coast!
To drop Inpex a quick reminder that the Kimberley remains an inappropriate option, go to https://www.inpex.co.jp/english/form/
