Send an E-Postcard to save our marine turtles!
Turtle Hotspot
The Top End Seas are a global hotspot for turtles. Six of the seven species of marine turtle frequent the Northern Territory coast, and five of these species actually nest on the sandy beaches of the Top End. Amazingly, some areas of the Top End have more than 100 turtle tracks found along 1km of coast.

Endangered
Sadly, all six species of turtle found on the Top End coast are listed as endangered or critically endangered under the IUCN threatened species list. Climate change, ghost nets, boat strikes, fishing gear entanglements and turtle-egg eating feral pigs are threatening their survival. However with your help we can prevent this from happening.
Save Our Turtles!
The Wilderness Society is calling on the Northern Territory Government to save our turtles by protecting their foraging and breeding grounds through a network of Marine Sanctuaries. Marine Sanctuaries not only help protect our wonderful turtles by providing them with a playground largely free from danger, but protect other wildlife too including dugongs and dolphins.
Please sign this e-postcard and tell the Chief Minister Paul Henderson to establish a network of marine sanctuaries to help save our turtles.
With less than 1% of the Top End Seas protected, our turtles deserve protection!
