The Wilderness Society Newcastle, as part of the Save the Williams River coalition, is pleased to promote "Walk for the Williams - Stop Tillegra Dam".
This exciting event is a week long journey that follows the Williams River from Brownmore, north of Dungog, to the coast at Nobbys Head in Newcastle.

Residents of the Hunter Valley and supporters of our campaign to save the Williams River from the Unnecessary, Expensive and Destructive Tillegra Dam will carry the message, "This is the magnificent Williams River Valley. It’s an amazing natural asset, home to a natural freshwater ecosystem, and supporting our farms, fishing, and people. Don't damn these valuable resources with a dam that nobody needs or wants".
Commencing on Sunday the 14th of March, marking the International Day of Action for Rivers, the journey will meander through the Williams River Valley and end with a community picnic on Saturday the 20th of March at the Railway Carriage, Foreshore Park, Newcastle from 12 noon until 2pm.
If you can't make the walk, you could show your support at any of our dinners at the end of each day - otherwise, we look forward to seeing you at our picnic.
