Protection is Near for Qld's Wild Rivers! - December 05, 2005

For millions of years Australia's rivers ran wild and free. Amazingly, despite the irreversible changes brought about by colonial development over the last 200 years, Queensland remains home to some of the nation's most majestic wild rivers. Rivers still flow freely throughout Cape York Peninsula, the Gulf of Carpentaria and the western Channel Country where entire catchments remain largely intact.

Let the Rivers Run Wild In Queensland - November 24, 2005

Across the remote north and west of Queensland are found some of the world's last great tropical wild rivers. In response to nationwide recognition of the destruction of the once-mighty Murray-Darling river system, in February 2004 the Queensland Government announced its intention to protect Queensland's wild rivers through the creation of a new 'Wild Rivers Act'.
