Sizzling satire at The Redneck Roast

Yes folks, this year the traditional ‘Green Roast’ comedy night made way for The ‘Redneck Roast’…and not a single land clearer, logger, polluter or roo shooter escaped from the merchants of mirth.
The comedic vitriol was directed squarely at those stereotypic people who think possum is ‘the other white meat’ and who can tell their age by the number of rings in their bath tub.
Does cutting-edge humour and belly wobbling entertainment get your giggling juices flowing? If so, the TWS(Sydney) annual stand-up comedy extravaganza was the place for you.
Every January, The Wilderness Society and The Sydney Comedy Store conspire to gather some of the nation's finest comics and encourage them to roast without mercy. Last time it was the 'Greenies' who had the sap taken out of them. This year it was the turn of the 'Rednecks (the green deficient members of the community). There was a great line up of talent including Dave Jory (as heard on JJJ) Chris Radburn (from Stand- Up Australia) and Jordan Raskopoulos (as seen in The Ronnie Johns Half Hour). The Sydney Comedy Store is a great intimate venue where everyone is close to the stage and drinks are delivered direct to your table. There were also fantastic raffle prizes to be won on the night (including a dinner for two at one of Sydney's premium restaurant's 'Bistro Moncur') On top of that, there was a silent auction with some fantastic sporting and entertainment items, including a U2 collage signed by Bono..
The best thing about The Redneck Roast is that all monies raised go to The Wilderness Society's campaigns to protect our fragile environment. (The Comedy Store and all the comedians donate their services free of charge).
