Voters in the seat of Paterson will have an opportunity to quiz the candidates from the major political parties on protecting the Williams River and committing to rigorously assessing the Tillegra Dam proposal. Candidates for the Federal seat of Paterson have been invited to present their positions on the controversial Tillegra Dam proposal at a Maitland Town Hall forum 6pm Tuesday, 17 August.
The third WildEndurance came to a close late on Sunday 2 May. The aptly named Dogged Determined trotted over the line after 39 hours and 13 minutes, some way behind the line winners, Team Warrior, finished the 100kms in just over 12 hours - smashing the previous record by four hours.
The Wilderness Society Newcastle, as part of the Save the Williams River coalition, is pleased to promote "Walk for the Williams - Stop Tillegra Dam". This exciting event is a week long walk that follows the Williams River from Brownmore, north of Dungog, to the coast at Nobbys Head in Newcastle. The walk will finish with a picnic on Sunday the 20th of March at Foreshore Park in Newcastle.
We're looking for a funky, new, activist t-shirt that can be proudly worn by our volunteers. You can decide on the messaging and colours, but remember to check out the Volunteer section of our website to guide your decision. Send in your design by 17th May.
The Wilderness Society's 100km team challenge set in the Blue Mountains will take place over the weekend of 1st and 2nd of May 2010.
The Natural Resources Commission (NRC) are currently assessing the River Red Gum Forests of south western NSW, to make recommednations to government over the future management of these Australian icons. The next step in this process is a series of public forums with the NRC, with a Sydney forum happening soon
The Wilderness Society is extremely concerned by current threats facing our National Parks, with a proposal to open them up to recreational shooting and to establish game reserves being introduced into the NSW Parliament. Come along to the urgent public rally being held by the Parks and Native Animals coalition.
