    <title>“Defend Our Water” National Day of Action</title>

    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p>On <b>Sunday 16 October</b> join with communities across the country to <b>rally against Coal and Coal Seam Gas.</b> Lock the Gate are having a "Defend Our Water" National Day of Action during National Water Week as the Coal and Coal Seam Gas represent the biggest threat to precious underground water reserves.</p>
<p>We will be marching through the streets of Brisbane and then creating a human sign in the shape of a huge water droplet. Throughout all of this there will be speakers, entertainment and heaps of information stalls.<br /><br /><b>What you can do:</b><br />•    Wear blue (to symbolize water) to the event, or bring some blue material to wave to the TV choppers<br />•    Create a banner or placard that expresses how you feel about the coal or CSG industry and the impacts it has on our water<br />•    Spread the word and encourage your friends and family to join in!</p>

<h2>Forever Wild and the Wilderness Society Cairns invite you to experience the rainforests of the Daintree, the jewel of Australia’s wilderness.</h2>
<p>Visit the majestic <strong>Mossman Gorge</strong>, walk along the <strong>Mossman River </strong>and look at <strong>rainforest</strong> from the ground and from the elevated boardwalk.</p>
<p>We will drive north across the <strong>Daintree River</strong> and visit the <strong>lowland rainforests of the Daintree</strong>, where the forest meets the reef. This is the only place in the world where two <strong>World Heritage Areas</strong> meet side by side; the Wet Tropics and the Great Barrier Reef. Look out for cassowaries, or birds of paradise. We will take a leisurely afternoon stroll through the most primitive forest in the world and identify plants from all stages of plant evolution. We will see tall rainforests, ancient ferns, vines and fresh flowing streams. <strong>Cairns Centre Coordinator Jeremy Little</strong> will guide and educate you on rainforests and the evolution of Australia’s wildlife.</p>

<p>The Wilderness Society Qld will be at the Griffith University Climate Action Group Green Market Day at the Griffith University Nathan Campus on 23 August 2011. Green Market Day is a major one-day event themed around ecological sustainability (including business sustainability).</p>
<p>The event connects organisations and businesses with the university's students and staff.</p>
<p>There will be sustainable food and products, exhibits and speeches; market stalls, along with music and other entertainment. Drop by our stall for a chat and find out how we can protect the best of Queensland’s amazing wild places.</p>
<p>We'll be there 9am – 4pm so hope to see you there!</p>

    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p><b>Thanks to people like you, the last twenty years have been an extraordinary time for the protection of Queensland’s natural environment.</b> Together we ended broad-scale tree clearing state-wide, protected the Daintree Rainforest and Fraser Island, saved ten of Queensland’s last wild rivers, and helped to deliver new Aboriginal National Parks on Cape York Peninsula, as well as Indigenous Wild River Ranger jobs.</p>
<p><b>We invite you to our Members and Supporters Event in your local area to celebrate these important achievements</b>, to showcase our current Queensland campaigns, and talk about the importance of Queensland’s next state election, which is due to be held by March 2012. We must guarantee these twenty years of environmental achievements are upheld by our political leaders.</p>

<p>The national Community Climate Network is holding its third summit for grassroots climate action groups and campaigners on Saturday 9th to Monday 11th April at the University of Melbourne’s Business and Economics Building, 198 Berkeley St, Carlton.</p>

<p><strong>Featuring dozens of inspiring talks and skill-building workshops, this year’s event focuses on the theme ‘From the Ground Up’</strong> and is a great opportunity to share information and collaborate to build the community movement for real action on climate change.&nbsp;</p>

So we have to do a great job and we need more volunteers to help us at the event.<br /><br />If you can spare 2.5 hours to do a cleanup shift, you help us get that donation and you get into Sunset Sounds for free on that day!
