New Great Australian Bight Park Plan falls short - June 13, 2005

The government recently released its new draft Management Plan for the Great Australian Bight Marine Park (Commonwealth Waters). The framework of the new plan is a big improvement on the original plan, but it still allows mining in the area which is supposed to protect the ocean floor, and fishing is allowed throughout the park - there are no permanent "no take" zones.
