No Super Trawlers Rally
Saturday 15 Sept
11am Parliament House Lawns, Hobart
There is still time for you to take a stand!
The world's second biggest super trawler has arrived in Australia and wants to go fishing for thousands of tonnes of fish, with protected dolphins, seals and seabirds also at risk from its nets. The Federal Government is sitting in Canberra NOW and they have the power to stop this carnage and protect our marine life and fishing.
Let's send a very clear message that they must act and say no to super trawlers in Australia!
Speakers will include:
- Dr Jon Nevill, on science
- The Hon Minister Julie Collins for the ALP
- Greens Member for Braddon, Paul O'Halloran
- Neil "Nobby" Clarke, Tuna Club of Tasmania
- Rebecca Hubbard, Environment Tasmania
And a bit of music by the talented ELFA.
Organised by:
Environment Tasmania, Tuna Club of Tasmania, GetUp
Supported by:
Game Fishing Club of Northern Tasmania, Greenpeace, Tasmanian Conservation Trust, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Australian Marine Conservation
Society, Australian Conservation Foundation, Conservation Council of Western Australia, Fishers for Conservation, Conservation Council of South Australia,
Humane Society International, The Wilderness Society, Ocean Planet Tasmania, Surfrider Foundation Australia, Victorian National Parks Association.
