Television soap stars Dichen Lachman, Caitlin Stasey and Matthew Werkmeister recently met some new neighbours in the forests of East Gippsland. They were hoisted ‘David Attenborough style’ into the forest canopy to meet their newest furry friends. Up in the treetops research is being undertaken to protect the last tree dwelling animals that exist in old-growth forests under threat from logging.
They were joined by Fiona Corke (Neighbours), Julie Nihill (Blue Heelers) and Tracey Callander (ex Acropolis Now) who, along with many international celebrities including Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow, are publicly coming out in support of environmental issues.
After coming back down to earth they visited the largest tree in Victoria (which has a girth of 17 metres!) and finally went to see the devastation of a cleared and burnt old-growth forest.
