Volunteer with the Wilderness Society Victoria
Our Top Ten reasons you should get involved with TWS Vic:
1) Victoria's forests need you
Did you know that Victoria has some of the most carbon dense forests in the world? Did you also know that we are logging them at the rate of 8-12 MCG sized football fields every single day? Victoria's forests need committed passionate people to advocate for their protection.

2) Meet new people
TWS volunteers are bright, enthusiastic, fun and often crazy environmental advocates who enjoy the company of fellow do- gooders. We often have get-togethers, guest speakers, field trips, festival stalls, camp outs and parties so there are plenty of opportunities to mix and mingle with your new friends.
3) Get active
Volunteering for the Wilderness Society gets you up, outta the house, involved and active. From banner dropping, to stall manning, petitioning, and banner painting... you may even find yourself in an animal suit. Its never a dull moment as a TWS vollie.
4) Build skills
Being a TWS volunteer gives you a fantastic opportunity to build on those skills you've been wanting to brush up on. Communication, computer, networking, writing, public speaking - you name it!
5) Make a difference
Make a significant and enduring difference. Enough said.
6) Learn new things
Its often said the best way to learn about something is by doing it. Well, here's your opportunity! As a TWSer you will learn first hand all about Victoria's forests, campaigning, and advocacy.
7) Explore career options
Thinking about maybe getting into the environment field? Not only is volunteering for the Wilderness Society a great way to learn about campaigning for the environment, its also a handy way to network, gain professional skills and find your niche in the environment movement.
8) Expand your horizons
Stuck in a rut? Why not expand your horizons and do something different? Com'on give yourself a challenge and put your skills and energy to some good use!
9) Have fun!
Trust me on this one, you will have a blast as a Wilderness Society volunteer. Just ask TWS Vic volunteer Kath Angus, "Volunteering for the Wilderness Society has been great. Not only am I having fun, but I am helping to bring about change, I've met loads of people doing the same, its given me tons of opportunities and most importantly, its inspired me to keep on giving a [care]."
10) Save water, save animals, save the planet
Logging in Victoria's forests wastes up to 1,000 litres of water every second, reduces waterflow into our dams by 50% and cause erosion and pollution, impacting water quality. Logging reduces critical habitat for threatened species like the adorable Leadbeater's Possum and Spotted-tail Quoll. On a global scale, deforestation and land change contributes 20 to 25 percent of the carbon emissions that cause climate change. It is absolutely crucial that we stand up and advocate for a healthy earth.
Everyone has skills and talents which can benefit our campaigns.
