Volunteer with the Wilderness Society!

Thanks so much for your interest in volunteering with The Wilderness Society. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our work and are crucial to our campaign success!

Get involved with the Wilderness Society

There are two ways to be involved with the Wilderness Society Victoria- as a Community Activist or as a regular in-office Campaign Assistant.

Community Activists

Community Activists help out with our outreach activities including working on stalls, coordinating/attending actions and demonstrations, attending and participating in Monthly Volunteer Evenings and other events, preparing campaign materials, letterboxing, banner dropping and postcard, sticker and pamphlet distribution, painting sewing, placards and prop making, and any other public campaigning.

Volunteers who are interested in becoming community activists will be placed on our monthly e-newsletter and text lists to receive information about upcoming opportunities. Community Activists do not need to make any sort of commitment to ongoing work with our campaigns.

In-office Campaign Assistants

In Office Campaign Assistants make a commitment to come in to our offices in Fitzroy at least 1 day per week for a minimum of three months. We ask our in-office assistants to make this significant commitment so that they can immerse themselves in the campaign and add real value to our work. As a Campaign Assistant you will be given a specific campaign project which suits your skills and interests.

This project can be anything from conducting research, helping with art and design, lobbying businesses and politicians, public speaking or anything else that suits your talents and our campaigns. In-office volunteers are also able (and encouraged!) to help out with Community Activist activities in addition to their project work.

Getting started volunteering with the Wilderness Society is as easy as 1,2,3!

1. Fill out the volunteer registration form. Please indicate on your form if you are interested in working on our Forest Campaign, our Kimberley Campaign or both. We will contact you about an induction day to take action on protecting our majestic wild places.

2. Jump online, learn about our campaigns and get connected. Visit www.wilderness.org.au and www.ethicalpaper.com.au to learn more about our work. You can also join our facebook page, 'The Wilderness Society Victoria’, to keep up-to-date with campaigns and events, and stay in touch with other volunteers.

Everyone has skills and talents which can benefit our campaigns.
