Don't Fail The Whales!

The Wilderness Society Archive - This page is over one year old. Links and content may no longer be accurate.

Today a new website was launched in collaboration with the Wilderenss Society, The Conservation Council & Environs Kimberley, to send a message to WA Premier Colin Barnett to stick to his promise of protecting this special part of the world & the Kimberley whale population forever.

Check out the website and send your message today: www.dontfailthewhales.com

The Kimberley coast is of global significance – one the largest unspoiled coastlines left on the planet.

It is WA’s equivalent of the Great Barrier Reef in terms of its natural values and sustainable tourism potential.

The Kimberley coast is home to an estimated 22,000 Humpback whales, the world's largest population. Each year the whales give birth and breed between Broome and Camden Sound and prepare for the annual migration to their Antarctic feeding grounds.

Despite this, less than 1% of the Kimberley marine environment is protected!

In the next few weeks, the maps outlining the Camden Sound Marine Park will be released for public comment - but we urgently need your help to ensure that it will really protect our unique Kimberley marine environment!  So please take action now: www.dontfailthewhales.com

Also, The Wilderness Society is launching our own online petition on Camden Sound Marine Park...so watch out for it on our website in the next few days!
