Kimberley Whale Festival in Broome

The Humpback whales have already begun arriving in the Kimberley - the first pod was spotted off Talboys rock, Manari on May 28th.

In celebration of this epic migration the 2010 Kimberley whale festival will be held in Broome from July 15-18th!

Broome is one of the hottest tourism destinations in WA, and this is a great time of year to visit, to catch the best weather, the whales and community buzz for the 4 day festival.

There will be a range of activities you can participate in; including whale lectures, whale watching trips, a short film competition, a fish cake cook-off and more...

Did you know?

dont fail the whales logoThe new 'Camden Sound' marine park maps should be released any day now!

The WA government is proposing a new marine park for the Kimberley, to protect some of the Humpback whale calving grounds, and in just a few weeks the proposed park maps will be released!

We have collected over 6000 petitions so far, asking for real protection for our coastal waters in the form of marine sanctuaries (which exclude extractive use, but allow research and sustainable tourism).

If you haven't already please sign our online petition to ask the Premier Colin Barnett to keep his promise to 'forever' protect this special part of the world and it's whales.
