Volunteering with The Wilderness Society is an incredibly rewarding experience. Are you ready to get involved?
Since launching our Movement For Life organising program in April 2016, we’ve had over 500 volunteer leaders join our movement and complete our two-day training program across the country. Many training graduates are now working in their communities to grow the movement and make a real difference for nature.
If you're passionate about the environment and want to do something to help but are not sure where to start, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Otherwise, read on for some of the many ways you can get involved as a volunteer in Sydney.
Get skilled up at a Community Organising Training
We are returning to our people-powered roots and investing in our greatest strength: our ability to inspire and empower people to create change.
Community organising is the primary source of our strength and will help us win campaigns, but it is much more than this. It involves empowering, training and supporting leaders; allowing them to activate their communities, build effective teams and create solutions to achieve a shared vision of a society that is deeply connected to nature and seeks to protect our natural world.
Our training program works to develop community leaders across the country. This builds the capacity and structure within local communities that will allow us to keep winning those campaigns into the next generation.
You can find out more about what our training covers and register for the next course here. Training is free for Wilderness Society supporters.
Join your local team
We’ve set up six regional organising teams to bring together training graduates in a coordinated way, to put into practice your skills to campaign for change in your local community and beyond. You can join an existing team or talk to us about setting up a new team in your area.
Our teams are made up of volunteers just like you who are passionate about the environment and are campaigning on local issues in their community and working on big national campaigns.
We currently have teams in the Northern Suburbs, the Inner West, the Eastern Suburbs, the Blue Mountains/Western Sydney, the Illawarra and Sutherland with a new team for the Northern Beaches coming soon!
