Sign the petition: End rainforest logging in Tasmania

The Tasmanian Government plans to log 420,000 hectares of protected old growth rainforests—like the Tarkine and Blue Tier. It beggars belief that a Tasmanian Government would take the axe to conservation reserves, when nature-based tourism and credible conservation is so critical to Tasmania’s economy.

The previous Tasmanian Environment Minister resigned suddenly, after three years of supporting attacks on Tasmania’s world-class reserves. Respected local member Elise Archer now has responsibility for safeguarding Tasmania’s protected old growth rainforests.

Logging Gondwanan rainforest reserves is akin to state-sanctioned hunting of elephants for ivory. It’s bad for the forests, it’s bad for the community and its bad for Tasmania’s brand.
