The Wilderness Society (Tasmania) Inc seeks members and office bearers to join their Committee of Management

Can you help one of Tasmania’s leading environmental organisations protect one of the world’s most stunning environments?

Our Committee of Management (CoM) plays a crucial governance role for the organisation. The CoM contributes to the strategic direction of the organisation and has oversight over the important campaigns that we deliver.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from people who have the following skills, experience and/or interests:

• Demonstrated commitment and passion to the natural environment, including wilderness;
• A commitment to and understanding of good governance and, ideally, previous experience on a board or management committee;
• Skills and qualifications in financial management and accounting (for the role of Treasurer)
• Demonstrated skills in leadership, business administration and relationship management (for the role of Convenor)

Commitment Required

Ordinary committee members are expected to commit around 4-6 hours per month. For office bearers (Treasurer, Secretary) this increases to around 6-8 hours, and for Convenor the time commitment is around 8-12 hours. This includes responding to emails, reviewing documentation, and preparing for and attending meetings.

There is no requirement to be located in any specific location in Tasmania, however financial membership of the organisation is a requirement for all nominees to the CoM.

If you are suitably qualified and have the time and ability to professionally volunteer, please express your interest by sending a brief cover letter outlining your skills and experience as related to the position description, and why you would like to join the Committee of Management. Also, provide a copy of your CV.

To nominate for the Committee of Management please request a nomination form via the contact details below prior to 17 November 2022. All nomination forms are required to be given to David Wanless, the Public Officer prior to the start of the AGM. Early nominations are encouraged to enable an opportunity for existing Committee Members to meet with nominees ahead of the meeting.
