Wilderness Society is proud to be Impact Partners for the Environmental Music Prize

We are excited to announce that we are Impact Partners for the Environmental Music Prize!

Launching with a $20,000 prize for the winning song, the prize celebrates the beauty of nature and our connection to it. The Wilderness Society will be on the voting panel to decide on a shortlist of 10 songs from submissions into the prize. Musicians, there's still time to get your entries in—nature needs your tunes!

The Environmental Music Prize seeks to encourage more talented artists to write powerful songs with hopeful messages that move hearts and minds to accelerate environmental action. The competition will highlight a diverse range of music and build a movement of artists committed to using their voice and platform to participate in campaigns that make the music industry more sustainable.

"Music opens people's hearts to change and action," says Matt Brennan, Wilderness Society CEO. "It resonates with what is great in us all, makes the impossible possible and the complex seem simple. Our great blue planet needs this now!

"The Wilderness Society is excited to be an Impact Partner for the Environmental Music Prize, helping find and share songs that will inspire us all. It's an opportunity to find the soundtrack for nature's future and a playlist that celebrates the life that supports us all."

In February, the public will be asked to decide on a winning song that resonates with them, and a People's Choice declared that will see the winning artist receive $20,000. The artist will be invited to join Green Music Australia's sustainability initiatives and Impact Partner campaigns. Green Music Australia is an acclaimed music industry charity, harnessing the cultural power of our influential music scene to create a greener, safer future.

"For 40 years, the Wilderness Society have stood at the forefront of Australia’s most historic environmental victories," the Environmental Music Prize said in a statement. "They continue to help secure better laws and oversight for the ecosystems that sustain us, and real protections for Australia's unique species and habitats. We're delighted to be partnering with them to amplify the voices of artists who inspire action for climate and conservation."
