Sandcastles for Sanctuaries

The third event of the Summer Sanctuary Series is a team sand-castle building competition, where teams will use their imagination and creative talents to form marine themed letters- that will spell out "Save Our Marine Life".

WHAT?  Sandcastle building competition, band & BBQ

WHEN?  Sunday, Mar 21st @ 9:30am. Participants have from 10.15am - 11.45am to make their sandcastle. By 12:30pm the judges will have made their decision! 

WHERE? Scarborough Main Beach, meet at the southern end of the Amphitheatre.

WHY?  You can help save WA's amazing sea life by signing one of our letters or postcards to  Environment Ministers Peter Garrett and Donna Faragher, asking for large marine sanctuaries to be established in the Kimberley and our unique South-West.

When you arrive please register and meet up with your team of 5 people. Don't have a team of 5? Don't worry! We'll be making up teams, so if its just you and your mate, that's ok but you do need to pre-register.

Each team will build a sandcastle letter to spell out 'Save Our Marine Life' in a giant message at Scarborough Beach. There will be awesome prizes for the team that makes the best marine themed sandcastle.There will also be a BBQ & a number of stalls highlighting the importance of conservation action.

Our guest judges are Karina Carvalho (ABC news), Renae Williams (TWS campaigner) & Jean-Marc Rivalland (2010 winner of ‘Sculptures by the Sea’).

Special thanks to local Scarborough restaurants - Zanders Restaurant, and Rendezvous Observation City Hotel for their generous donations of prizes for this event.
