Terms & Conditions
Please note that these terms and conditions are sent to supporters who make various types of donations and also to those who sign-up for membership/regular giving, so some sections may not apply to you.
1. Membership & Local Organisation
This section applies only if you have filled in a regular giving/membership/monthly donation form.
By completing a regular giving or membership form you are applying for membership of the national organisation, The Wilderness Society, and where relevant, the local Wilderness Society organisation, which means whichever is relevant of The Wilderness Society (Queensland) Inc., The Wilderness Society Newcastle Inc., The Wilderness Society (Sydney) Inc., The Wilderness Society Victoria Inc., The Wilderness Society (Tasmania) Inc., The Wilderness Society (South Australia) Inc. or The Wilderness Society WA Inc. If you move permanently to another state (or outside the Sydney or Newcastle region if relevant), then this application will be treated as an application to join the relevant local Wilderness Society organisation, if any, in your new place of residence. Your membership of the original local organisation will lapse unless you apply then to remain a member of that organisation. Your membership of The Wilderness Society will remain unchanged.

All Wilderness Society volunteers or employees must carry identification when collecting on behalf of the Society. If you have any concerns regarding the representative of the Society please contact our National Office immediately on 1800 030 641.
4. Direct Debit Request
1. By giving your details to be entered into the online form you are:
1.1 Authorising and requesting The Wilderness Society APCA 025183 to arrange for funds to be debited from your account at the Financial Institution identified and as prescribed below through the Bulk Exchange Clearing System (BECS). All details of the accounts to be debited have been supplied in the online form.
1.2 Authorising The Wilderness Society to verify the details of the above mentioned account with your Financial Institution.
1.3 Authorising your Financial Institution to release information allowing The Wilderness Society to verify the above mentioned account details.
5. Direct Debit Request Service Agreement
1. Direct Debit arrangements:
1.1 Subject to 1.2 and 1.3 you may change the arrangements under a Direct Debit Request by contacting us on 1800 030 641 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
1.2 If you wish to stop or defer one of your contributions you must notify us in writing at least five (5) business days before the next debit day.
1.3 You may also cancel your authority for us to debit your account and cancel your membership at any time by giving us fourteen (14) days notice in writing before the next debit day. Your signature is required for this authority.
1.4 The first direct debit of your account will occur within five (5) business days of the date selected by you or, if no date was selected, of the online form being submitted.
1.5 Ongoing regular direct debiting of your account will then occur on the monthly or yearly anniversary date as selected by you (or closest business day) of first contribution.
2. You should be aware that:
2.1 Direct debiting through BECS is not available on all accounts; and,
2.2 Account details should be checked against a recent statement from your Financial Institution. If you are in any doubt, you should check with your Financial Institution before completing the drawing authority.
3. It is your responsibility to ensure that sufficient funds are in the nominated account when the payments are to be drawn.
3.1 If you are aware that funds will not be available on the next debit day please refer to Point 1.2.
3.2 You are notified that if sufficient funds are not available on the next debit day and you have not notified The Wilderness Society to stop or defer your contribution five (5) business days in advance; your Financial Institution may deduct a fee from your account. This fee varies with each Financial Institution and will not be reimbursed by The Wilderness Society.
If the due date for payment falls on a non-working day or public holiday, the payment will be processed on the previous or next working day (this decision is made by The Wilderness Society). If you are in any doubt, please refer to Point 1 or call 1800 030 641 for further clarification.
Your account details will be kept private and confidential, to be disclosed only at your request.
