Premier Rockliff must require Felix Ellis to apologise to Tasmanian Aboriginal people

The Wilderness Society Tasmania condemns the actions of Tasmanian Government minister, Felix Ellis, four-wheel-driving on the takayna coastline, and echoes the sentiments of the Aboriginal Land Council Tasmania.

“While the rest of the country is debating justice for Aboriginal people, Mr Ellis is riding roughshod - literally - four-wheel-driving over fragile, precious and ancient Aboriginal middens and degrading a living cultural landscape,” said Tom Allen for the Wilderness Society Tasmania.

“Premier Jeremy Rockliff should, at the very least, require Mr Ellis to apologise.

“Hopefully a consequence of Mr Ellis’ cheerful barbarism is that it advances the prospect of the land of Lutrwita being returned to its rightful owners, the Palawa People, as well as the possibility of a returned and Aboriginal-owned and managed takayna World Heritage Area,” said Mr Allen.
